Reconnaissance Visit 16-19 January 2011

A group of 5 representatives from Créteil visited Falkirk from 16-19 January to lay the foundations for the youth visit from Créteil that will take place in August this year.  The group consisted of;  Magda Vorchin, la Directrice du Comite de Jumelage, Frederique Giacomi,Twinning Representative for International Exchanges, Mr Maguy Boulard, Youth Officer at the Mairie, Mr Habib Benemar, Manager of a Youth Centre in Créteil.

The visit included meetings with several officers within Falkirk Council's Community Education Services department and youth leaders who, along with Liz Paton Youth Development Officer, will lead the programme of activities for the August visit.   The group also visited Carronvale in Larbert where the Créteil youth group will stay during their 6 nights in Falkirk.   Ann Dickson and her colleagues at Carronvale extended a really warm welcome to our visitors from Créteil including a guided tour around the facilities and a tasty buffet lunch.   Several Twinning Association Members helped out and found it invaluable in the organisation and planning of the youth group visit this summer.

Face-to-Face in Falkirk

Also taking part in the visit was Gaelle Bieth, a teacher at Ecole Beuvin B Primary School in Créteil and Fiona Macdonald, a primary school teacher at Kinnaird Primary School in Larbert.   Gaelle's pupils have been successfully communicating with Fiona's pupils by video conference over the last two years.   Fiona provided a detailed report of January's visit and of the activities Gaelle took part in at Kinnaird Primary School.  Gaelle and Fiona met in Créteil last year and they both agreed it was fantastic to meet face-to-face again to take this exciting project forward.
